Drugs of the Future
Non-structural protein 5A (NS5A) is a promiscuous phosphoprotein essential to HCV genome replication, although the exact role it plays during the viral life cycle remains undefined. Small molecules targeting NS5A have proven to be potent inhibitors of HCV replication in vitro and in vivo, and some of them are now entering clinical development.

Drugs of Today
Azilsartan medoxomil is a novel prodrug that acts as a highly selective angiotensin II receptor blocker with potent blood pressure-lowering activity and a favorable safety profile when administered as a once-daily oral therapy either as a single agent or in combination with chlorthalidone or amlodipine in patients with hypertension.
